Some of my gentle readers have written to inquire whether we Billionaires will cease or political activism, now that our dear Dubya has been re-appointed.

Nothing could be further from the truth (well, except for anything that comes from the White House press secretary - but there's a good reason for that!).

We do have much for which we can be grateful, as we wealthy ever do. Our schmoozer-in-chief, Phil T Rich, said in our post-election press release, "If the next four years resemble the last four, we'll have two more wars, $2 trillion added to the deficit, no increase in the minimum wage, continuing increases in the middle-class tax burden, another million jobs outsourced, and our corporate ice sculptures will continue to urinate fine Russian vodka."

We have much to celebrate: and celebrate we did; on private islands, in gold-plated jets, lips locked to the naughty bits of ice sculptures in all the world's great cities. We live in interesting times indeed and have high hopes; but they will remain but hopes unless we keep out eyes on that platinum prize. We must remain ever-vigilant, lest our government begin to neglect the wealthiest one percent. We will have our work cut out for us, as we will face opposition in our struggle to eliminate the dynasty tax and "privatize" (read: eliminate) Social Security.

Block the Vote in Western PA

Now this is the way to do it. An "ostensibly nonpartisan" registration drive hired by the RNC to conduct a registration drive in the great swing state of Pennsylvania, has allegedly instructed its canvassers "to avoid registering Democrats or anyone who indicated support for Democratic nominee John F. Kerry."

Tharp said volunteers were sent door-to-door to seek registrants but were instructed to first ask prospective new voters which candidate they planned to support.

"If they said Kerry, we were just supposed to say thank you and walk away," Tharp said.

Legal, I think.

Block the Vote in Philadelphia!

Via Three Guys, another reason to downsize our Block the Vote staff.

Once again, our employees have been less than discreet, as this article in the Philadelphia Daily News shows.

"It's predominantly, 100 percent black. I'm just not going in there to get a knife in my back."

-- Matt Robb, Republican ward leader in South Philadelphia, on his last-minute request to move five Philly polling places in African-American neighborhoods.

Chris Brennan (with a big assist from Dave Davies) has the scoop in today's Philadelphia Daily News. They learned that high-ranking state GOP and Bush operatives asked local Republicans to try to move 63 polling places at the last minute. Some 53 of the 63 polling places are in districts less than 10 percent white.

Blocking the Vote in America

Josh Marshall points out this article about an unfortunate snag in the Block the Vote effort. Apparently, a private registration company called Voter's Outreach of America has been caught throwing registration forms straight in the trash!

Former employees have turned over on their bosses, alleging that they saw supervisors bin Democrats' forms.

A quote follows -

"We caught her taking Democrats out of my pile, handed them to her assistant and he ripped them up right in front of us. I grabbed some of them out of the garbage and she tells her assisatnt to get those from me," said Eric Russell, former Voters Outreach employee.

This allowed upstart employees of our media to abandon their prescribed Bush hagiography to perform investigative acts of journalism:

Eric Russell managed to retrieve a pile of shredded paperwork including signed voter registration forms, all from Democrats. We took them to the Clark County Election Department and confirmed that they had not, in fact, been filed with the county as required by law.

Now, clearly this won't do. We can't Block the Vote with such simple tactics.

First of all, this article shows once again that we must reduce our dependence on domestic labor. Our workers cannot be allowed to get uppity enough to spill the beans on their natural superiors. Until our administration has ended regulation entirely, this will remain critical.

Secondly, this article reminds us never to leave a paper trail. Our friends at Diebold have done a great deal of work to make sure that we can steal this election and leave no evidence whatsoever. This is extraordinarily important - when we do our work in public, citizen outrage can harm our effots. For example, Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell was forced to abandon his Block the Vote initiative after he publicly stated that he would only accept voter registration forms on "white, uncoated paper of not less than 80-pound text weight."

Of course, both Kenneth Blackwell and Voter's Outreach of America have the right idea - it's essential that we block the vote to get our full eight years. But children, please let's be more sophisticated about it!

As State Rep. John Pappageorge (R-Troy) said, "If we do not suppress the Detroit vote, we're going to have a tough time in this election cycle."

Please, darlings, try to suppress the vote - but not on record.

They've lowered the cover for their Singles Auction to a measly $50.

Letter Writing Campaign to Save Diebold and Block the Vote!

The New York Times reports today that Diebold is in trouble again, and is being sued by Swarthmore students, no less.

The Times seems to have an all-out vendetta against Diebold. The author of this article has the gall to complain about the time-honored relationship between money and politics.

I quote: "As doubts have grown about the reliability of electronic voting, some of its loudest defenders have been state and local election officials. Many of those same officials have financial ties to voting machine companies."

For Heavens' sake. Anyone with half a brain will defend her investments!

And again: "Even while in office, many election officials are happy to accept voting machine companies' largess. The Election Center takes money from Diebold and other machine companies, though it will not say how much. At the center's national conference last month, the companies underwrote meals and a dinner cruise."

We Billionaires need to make these investments! Clearly, it's not enough to invest in politicians. Even though we've bought our leaders fair and square, the unwashed middle classes make attempts to vote. We must do everything we can to make sure their votes don't count.

We're doing the best we can, and now 43 percent of the budget of the National Association of Secretaries of State comes from voting machine companies and other Billionaire investments.

Diebold is doing its part, and working hard. In fact, their CEO, Wally O'Dell, even said "I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the President." That's dedication, darlings. That's honesty.

On Tuesday, October 12, America Coming Together will be sponsoring a singles auction to further its dastardly plan to mobilize voters. At their affair, at the Slipper Room at 7:30, ACT will be auctioning off celebrities like Moby and Quentin Heggs.

The Billionaires, of course, are wildly opposed to such a thing as voting. As you know, we feel that we deserve to get our money's worth, and keep our man in for eight full years - after all, that's what we paid for. We're a bit afraid that he may lose the popular vote again if ACT keeps this up, and so we're having our servants work just as hard as they can on our Block the Vote campaign.

So, an invitation is hereby issued to all my Billionaire friends and neighbors -- don't let rabble rousers like Moby and Jay McInerney have their way!

The Yes Men

Last night I stopped in at a lovely party for The Yes Men, a fabulous organization of Bush and globalization supporters who are celebrating the opening of their movie.

The Yes Men use refreshing, original tactics to promote global capitalism and the politicians who make it possible. For example, while working for the WTO, they designed a suit that allows executives to keep track of all their workers at all times, and presented it to a group of businessmen and women in Finland. They explained to the conference what a step up globalization is from slavery. I happen to agree. This compassionate conservative thinks foreign workers deserve every cent of their dollar a week!

The Yes Men have been travelling the country lately to promote our President's agenda. Yes Bush Can have been travelling the country, promoting such worthy causes as clear-cutting our national parks to get our hands on all that good lumber! They recommend a new mascot, Smokey the Log, for our parks. You can hear his song here.

Thank heavens we're not alone. After that unfortunate little debate on Thursday, I'm glad to have so many good people on our side.

Although they don't seem always to understand the key issues at stake in this election (more money for the moneyed) and they don't have a fine grasp on the finer points of spelling and grammar, the Angry 15 Year Olds for Bush certainly feel strongly about their candidate.

I suppose I can't really fault them. George Bush certainly showed that education is a privilege, not a right. And thank Heavens he did: when he underfunded the NCLB by $9.4 billion, he helped finance a $1.1 trillion tax cut for the very wealthiest - like me!

Unfortunately, that Hillary Clinton has recently introduced a bill that would fully fund NCLB.

Clearly, this is a foolish waste of funds. My hard-inherited money can stay right in my fur-lined pocket, so long as our children support the proper candidate. Luckily, I don't need to worry about blocking their votes...yet.

Sweetest ones,

Our dearest George W. Bush will be blessing our little town with his presence once again!

This Monday, September 20th, he will be attending a little party for some of his biggest donors at the Sheraton at 53d street and 7th avenue.

Of course, many Billionaires will be at the event. Some of you may not know this, but nearly half of our nation's billionaires have given money to Bush - while only 37 misguided billionaires have given money to Kerry.

With 90% of Bush's individual campaign contributions coming from the very wealthiest, and 80% of his PAC money coming from business interests, one can expect that the Billionaires will be there to welcome him to town!

I will be attending high tea before the event, but hope to get a glimpse of my favorite possession, the President himself. And of course, I hope to see all of you, my compatriots in the nation of wealth.

Once again, our media employees have published beautiful pictures of us, but once again they mischaracterize our mission. Can someone's assistant please get on the phone with Time and tell them that there is no need for us to "use parody" to communicate our "belief" that this Administration has "favored the corporate elite at the expense of ordinary Americans"?

As I've reminded you all time and time again, it's no mere belief that our darling W has favored us....after all, as the top 1% of America received 52% of his tax cuts, that leaves only 48% for the bottom 99.

Who needs parody to get across such clear truth?

We have some quarrels, of course, with the notions of "downtown" (unless we're slumming) and "democracy" (why not just buy a politician?) but, as I've said before, we're always charmed when the differently-advantaged come out to play. In addition, I personally make the greatest effort to attend any event that includes a champagne brunch.

This new site makes an allegation about our President that could, if true, make even this wealthy one-percenter reconsider her support for him.

These folks suggest a Truth so shocking that even I, who have personally received handout after handout from this administration, might look elsewhere for a leader-in-name.

I don't know what to say. The Pleasure Boat Captains for Truth allege that our President W can't hold his liquor!

I will send my lawyers to investigate, as soon as they have finished giggling at the latest EPA directive.

I should have known not to trust anyone in such an awful shirt as the middle-class boater in those ads! In fact, the PBCT's very website links to this page, which proves that not only could W drink before he quit, he still kept on swilling after he went on the wagon.

Darlings -

Once again, a brief post as I am simply exhausted! This evening was quite a whirlwind of activity for this Billionairess.

I stopped by two gallery parties this evening with a select group of Billionaires for Bush - first at James Delavega's space, and then at Carlito's Cafe y Galeria.

It was a fascinating experience for me. Both galleries are on Lexington Avenue, which is, of course, quite familiar. But here's the catch - Delavega's space is on 103d street, and Carlito's on 106th! I had absolutely no idea that the streets went up above 96th street, but it was an absolute pleasure, as always, to be in Connecticut!

I must say, though, that I was surprised by the goings-on at Carlito's. I knew that the exhibit was about President Bush's domestic policy, so of course I went along to support. Any man who widens the income gap so much deserves all the support I can give him, and I think the financial help isn't enough (though I do thank the two-thirds of American billionaires who've written him such big checks!).

But here's the strange thing, darlings - apparently the folks at Carlito's were less than happy with the man! They had all sorts of little complaints about the jobs lost, services cut, and other such rubbish.

I ask you this: why don't they buy their own president?

Before we went to the reception at Artists for Change, we stopped by James Delavega's gallery. Turns out he's a fan of ours! In addition, he tells us that he's running for State Senate. He's trying to get people to vote for him. Such a charming, old-fashioned way to get into office. I do think that elections are awfully last-millenium, but they are so artistic....

Croquet and Politics

Darlings,

Today was a big day for the Billionaires. Of course, come to think of it, every day is a big day for billionaires, but this was special. This morning, we had a croquet game on the Great Lawn. That one was a near miss, actually - my assistant Lotte tells me that some rabble of the middle class had wanted to use the lawn for some kind of protest, but luckily the Mayor is one of us (four times over -- congratulations, Mike!) and he made sure to clear it for us. We had a lovely time playing croquet and badminton, though the paparazzi were simply swarming.

After that we went on to the Million Billionaire March. I was awfully glad to have had a bit of croquet in the morning, because the march was serious business! Some people think that we Billionaires have nothing to worry about, but I think that march proved them wrong. It takes an awful lot to get a Billionaire off her yacht and into sticky New York in the summer, and everyone was there, from Phil T. Rich to Phillmore Barrels.

We had a lot to talk about at the march. We came out to thank our beloved President for all he's done for us - in just the few short years of his term, he managed to cut taxes on the wealthiest 1% (that's us, and our most favored assistants) by $1.1 trillion! In addition to thanking the President, we wanted to thank the average taxpayer, as well: Bush taxes wages (that’s how they make money), not wealth (how we make money). His tax cuts saved millionaires 140 times what they saved the average working family. Thanks working families!

We also marched to warn people about that nouveau-riche upstart John Kerry. That class traitor wants to get rid of the tax cuts for the very wealthiest Americans! Darling, can you imagine what would happen to our second-string polo team?

It's a bit worrying, really. At the moment it's lonely at the top, and I hope to keep it that way.
